substance of a minute, recorded by a machine and a few others begins from the unassuming and pragmatic medium for navigation - the map. What we know of it is also a result of a long-standing relationship of colonialism and its subversive violence inflicted upon Singapore. The map has and still remains to be a key defining influence in our topographies and social realities.

While the research begins with the 1822 Jackson Plan as the seed in which 'modern' Singapore was built upon, substance of a minute, recorded by a machine and a few others expands into its research-based investigation through formulating a four-part artistic and intuitive exercise.

Each exercise proposes a re-contextualisation of the motivations, processes and adjacent ideas of mapmaking. From the process of land data collection to the circulation of maps as knowledge, investigating how the nation has been shaped through motions of mapmaking.
